History

The building is set on the hillside facing Bussolengo, built between 1859 and 1861 to protect Verona and the communication routes to Austria, through the Adige Valley.
The strategic position: from here, the building dominates not only Verona and the Atesina Valley, but also the southern features of Garda, Mount Baldo and the surrounding hills.
The fort was armed with about fifteen cannons and defended by around eighty soldiers and in 1866 fell into the hands of the Piedmontesi. Restructured in recent years, it has maintained its original structure and characteristics and is now the restaurant Al Forte.
